Theres a link tool in acrobat, also a tool where you can give specific areas actions. you can at links to url's too.I'm creating the design in illustrator.
in my experience at a design company/ agency. its just as easy to show your work on a laptop as in a portfolio (unless you have print which has to be seen as a product). I pdf can be pretty easy send out or posted too. i had to send work to a guy in japan, just the other day.
maybe its just me, but whenever somebody brings their portfolio to show us. if its with traditional brints in a case, it kind of seems old. i think i look at a screen too much.
