Totally respect Jon Stewart. It's funny that in the UK he comes on CNN (once a week Sunday 11.30 i think guys ;)) - he's on Comedy Central in the States right?
I remember watching CrossFire at JFK airport waiting for my plane last year and Stewart is spot on. They turn politics into a pantomime. Two guys shouting at each other. It was so purile. Don't wanna sound like the high and mighty, rod up his ass Brit - but over here we're lucky cos we have shows like Question time, and even ITV, our commercial channel, has a really good politics show on Sunday mornings (hang-over TV) with one of the Dimbleby brothers. And it's geniune real political discourse where politicians are made to squirm and are guarenteed to be embarssed. Where politicians are held to account and politics isn't reduced to some black/white left/right crap. Every issue is taken in isolation and discussed and debated, and new opinions and perspectives highlighted.
We're really lucky in the UK, we have a very high-standard of journalism. And it's not just the BBC.
