as far as I can remember most of the problem with 10.3.6 at startup have something to do with fonts. on macfixit it was suggested to clean up the fontbook, down to the default sets (create a new user and see what's default).
I'll stay with 10.3.5 as it _is_ stable as hell - I'm very very satisfied, I had two crashes in the last year. that's ok for me. :)
