I think politions are swayed too much by the people into making wild promises to get voted for. I think as a society we expect quick solutions that will make everyone happy. And are shocked and fed up when this can't be achieved. I think most of us cannot comprehend the complexity of an entire society, the needs of it and the expectations of it or have any clue how to tackle the problems we have and face.

It's easy for us to say do this and do that but ultimatley we are only exposed to a minute amount of the consiquences are proposed fixes may have.

What annoys me about ID cards in particular is that i can really see no need AT ALL for them! How are they going to make me safer? How long until genitic information is stored on them, how long until insurance companies get that information, how long until you're refused health insurance, or descriminated against in other ways through no fault of your own.
