i rode a fixed once and i swear it was one of the scariest things - i live at the bottom of a hill and so had to cycle up for a while first, so didn't coast atall, thought i had the measure of the fixed hub, but going down the other side, i tried to hop a hole in the road and almost got thrown off. it would take some getting used to
the guy i borrowed it from lives in london and never chains it up, more than once he has had it stolen but finds it a short sprint away - the thief had picked up some speed and coasted and not been able/bothered to stay on - useful i suppose
i ride singlespeed 38/18 chameleon, rearbrake only
