my ati 9800Pro 256mb was great until I bought doom3... where there's a bad problem with white speckles.
Updating the driver to try and rectify it only led to a faulty 'console' thing every time I start up and now I can't downgrade my driver to resolve the problem.
Bottom line: I stupidly paid a fortune for this card last year, in anticipation of Doom 3 and Half Life 2, which only came out after the release of a new gen of drivers, and now it doesn't work for the first of these I've tried it on.
It's otherwise been a great card - the thrill of hearing "Holy Shit!!" when I cranked up Unreal Tournament 2004 to the max still makes me giddy with smug contenment.
But I do rue the initial outlay.
