It goes way back to the Jack Charlton days. He was once left in the stadium during the USA world cup, Roy had to stay and be examined by a doctor and the team left without him. Roy had no money and had to hitch back to the hotel...
Keane always hated McCarthy cause he always had his head up Jack Charltons ass. Keane went on the piss in the US with Steve Stauton and was late for the trip home holding up the bus. McCarthy told him off in front of the team and Jack Charlton
McCarthy: Your right out of Order you!
Keane: Go and fuck yourself"
Also, Keane was pretty pissed off with the whole FAI (irish FA) he hated the way the suits travelled in 1st class while the team had to travel in economy. But the final nail in the coffin was McCarthy trying to make a spectical of Keane in a player/managent meeting in Sepang.
Its a great book, you should read it.
