letters - when he was in high school he asked for a dream to see what he should do with his life and he drempt of acupuncture. which they did not have in the states as a discipline so he went to oxford and studied.
he's been buddhist for about 25 years and meditating every day for many of those years. my mom and i felt it would be holding him back from his dream if we were to not be supportive.
mostly i am happy for him. but very sad that it broke up my family.

supposedly, in japan it's totally normal for the man of the house to do this - but, my mom felt ignored and, of course, his best friend picked up where he left off in her life. damn heathen.
