hmm well, if this is an 'art' project and you are an 'artist' then perhaps it is your 'job'.
I almost see what you mean about 'sitting on the fence' but I just think the fence should be more of a tightrope, while perhaps you dont want to appear to be telling people how or what to think, there can be ways of raising a subject in an unbiased manner which does stimulate thought and perhaps allows people to have some clarity on issues through their own thought process. this technique has the benefit of being open to more subliminal messaging and while perhaps the goal achieved is actually of your construction, the means of attaining it has been generated through the viewers own mind and therfore they pat themselves on the back for being so clever to have 'come up with it themselves and are less hostile to the piece because it isn't patronising them or ramming things down their throat.
