i really enjoyed that kingjulien.
i like it when people document observations about the mundane aspects of their everyday life - it's the antithesis of the increasingly banal market driven habit of hyping up the spectacular, paying homage only to the ultimate "magical moments" in order to maximise penetration across a broadly banal consumer base. in this culture only the excessive and amplified are deemed worthy of commentary and language is reduced to a catch-phrase to pander to the dullest of minds. the previous hostile reactions to your observations only reveal a hysterical fear of being ordinary.
i'm interested in similar visual concepts - there was a japanese businessman a few years ago who showed a piece at onedotzero in london, he'd had a camera around his neck for a month and took a photo on the hour every hour for that period. at the end he played them all together and every day was the same. for me the observation of tedium is the opposite of the singular model of lifestyle improvement we are sold, it's the unremarkable immigrant cleaner just out of frame from the plastic mtv altar we are expected to worship at daily. more please.
but you're a moralistic cock for being disgusted at the couple making out in the library ;)
