I had high expectations for this, but...
What a poor movie.
Extremely contrived. The dialogue was terrible, aside for Braff (writing for himslef). Portman, though cute—yes, was terrible, I mean, really horrible acting on her part. Sure there were some good shots, but the movie overall was trying SO hard to be funny. It may have been “smarter” humor, but delivered in the same manner as a bad humor kind of movie. Even Ian Holm, who is extraordinary, was weak in this movie.
The whole thing, just too contrived. I will say that Braff can act, and can write for himslef, but the rest of the dialogue was trite and unrealistic.
