very true. i find it very funny that a lot of people bash on bands like green day (who are on a major label) because they 'sold out', when in fact all the hero bands (ramones, clash...) were on majors as well.
however, i think when blink-182 came along and were using the punk sound for pop songs... people reacted with, "wait, they're just using the sound now, that's not punk rock."
hence the current dividing line. but there are some really good punk bands out there these days, the desaparecidos record is still one of the best ones out there. raw, anti-consumerist, amazing.
