It's funny how the first thing people say is a soft synth. A synth is a just a tool. What are you talking, recording actual played music or synthetic stuff? Logic is a sequencer, Reason has sequencing capability but is a soft synth. You can line in instruments to your Mac and then record with a sequencer such as Logic, Pro Tools, etc, etc.
