I guarentee if you get a taste of summer in Sydney you will want to stay. If its any use to you what i did when i first got here was work freelance for the first 6 months, then after saving a bit went traveling around oz for 4 months, then came back here and have been fulltime since. Sydney is a great city to live and work in but I'd definately recomment taking time off to see the country aswell. Best 4 months i've had in a long time.
And i suppose it all comes down to how much freelance is out there. you will earn more if you continue freelance but freelance tends to dry up around xmas as everyone goes on holidays, also if you are fulltime you get paid for the 2 weeks that you get off over the xmas period, unlike freelance.
