For PC folks AutoDesk has a version called "QuickCAD". I use this software for all of my woodworking designs, floorplan layouts, etc.
It's about $50 and quite powerful for such an inexpensively price software package. It isn't the most intuitive package, but one drawing in I had the hang of it pretty well.
Within the past year, Popular Woodworking published a couple of very good articles on this software for the home hobbyist.
Also, the latest issue of "Fine Woodworking" (oct. 2004) has a very good article called "CAD on a Budget."
