Digital vs 35mm Cameras

I think if you want to experiment, have fun, take photos for low res output (ie: web/video) or even family pictures, small projects ...digital is the future and the way to go! I'd get a digital SLR vs the point and shoot camera since I'm in the creative market.
The pros say 35mm holds better quality. In terms of color and sharpness.
So what is 35mm good for these days since it can provide a better quality in terms or sharpness and color? I'd say all full color prints from billboards, posters and magazines.
As for me, I'm good with digital for what I want to do. (web, video, fun, experiment, friends and family shots) I'm not going to be a pro photographer so I won't need the extra 35mm quality. I bet I can get away with using a digital camera in the print market where my clients aren't as quality hungry.
