the first question is how much are you looking to spend?

http://www.dpreview.com/I have a Canon digital rebel 6.2MP. It's sweet but I had a Canon SLR 35mm so I didn't need to buy new lenses.
The image quality is so much better with a digital SLR so if you can afford it go for it!
If not, the Olympus 5mp+ and Minolta 5mp+ are great too.
