There is plenty of work in Florida, but not necessarily at creative agencies and marketing firms. You will find that the major cities are very corporate and there is a surprisingly small amount of truly creative design firms here.
Tampa is growing rapidly and has an awesome economy right now, so does Sarasota, which is an awesome city, although a bit small. Orlando has tons of work in interactive and video, obviously, and Miami is huge and I typically see some pretty decent job openings listed on a daily basis. Check out Craigslist.com for both Tampa Bay and Miami, they are probably the best cities for opportunity.
I moved to Tampa about a year ago and scored quite a few interviews, however most were looking for someone with a bit more experience, I have had a job for about 7 months now so I would say you shouldn't have any trouble finding a job here.
There is a fairly large British/Irish population in Tampa/St. Pete by the way.
