Reaction to logos:
I would say the one that shows the most promise is style 2a. I think that there is a rough, cut up approach in style that could be refined a bit.
You might consider another approach to this and move away from "typical" imagery that would normally be associated with saints, angels, etc. This sometimes proves helpful in coming up with an original mark that is uniquely yours.
And as far as logo design goes:
I have created many a logo that has gone through revision after revision and stage after stage.
It is not an exact science. Every mark offers up its own unique problems that need to be solved.
But some of the best advice I ever heard about logo design is this:
"It must work in black and white first and the simplest solution is sometimes the best solution."
