  Not sure if "Buffalo" is big other then here, but other brands that makes good external drives are:

  ADTEC
  GREEN HOUSE
  IODATA
  LaCie
  LOGITEC
  MAXTOR
  TRANSCEND
  WESTERN DIGITAL

  Most are interchangable.

  Buffalos Lan series is pretty neat. You can even set it up as an ftp server:
