Humanists generally believe in personal freedom. If it isn't causing harm it's none of my business what you do with your life or in your bedroom. Religions lean the other way. They evangelize their view of how society should be ordered and how people should behave. They have absolute certainty in their metaphysical ideas and would like nothing better than a government that shared and legislated these beliefs.
Froww, if you're getting flamed it's because this paradigm is offensive to those of us who'd rather not live in a theocracy. Like your concept of hating the sin and not the sinner we hate the christian paradigm not the person trapped in it.
