Wow. Not to be a downer or anything, but it seems a lot of people just want to recommend adding one under your belt.

When are you going to come? Try to read up on what kind of festival they will be holding at the time you arrive. There's lots of celebration going on in the summer. Everyone's wearing Yukatas and dancing Obon, some nights you might see a whole street or station closed down just to give room for thousands of attenders in those really beautifully colored parades. It's something you really don't see everyday.

Vending machine alcohol is fun and all, but try an Izakaya out instead. Some like it, some don't. I think it is alright. Go for the experience. Try to get to know some folks there, there's ton of Japanese that wants to talk; they're all drunken.
You should find one with a crowd that fits your age.

    About the said Roppongi:
Ever seen the movie "The Beach"? Not the best movie, but the deal is kind of the same if you ask me. Well, more or less. Anyways, all those hooligans running around being asses, yeah, Roppongi is that spot but in Japan. Army guys shoulder to shoulder with english teachers that are all here to bend around. Add to that if you will, a heap of foreigners selling massage from Japanese everywhere you go.
It's not my cup of green tea.
But if you absolutely have to go there, check out club Vanilla. The place is not infested with scum yet, and the place is alright. They even have a old bamboo style resturant on the 2nd floor of that club.

Now that is just for Tokyo. I don't even know where you're going. But I bet anywhere would be fine. Especially since all the beer vending machines would be there.

If you were to ask me that is.
