what the older guard said was that he had a lot of troulbe explaining to a reporter why they paid the federal gov't a lot of money to reroute planes around the preserve. as for the fires, the blind girl had to walk a few miles to get to the fence, so with dense woods, you wouldn't be able to see any fires unless there were mountains nearby.
if more people came to the village with them, how come they weren't on the elders' council?
they were dressed too well to be completely cuf off from the world. yes, they did have sheep, but they weren't wearing just wool. plus, where did the oil or pitch come from to keep those thousands of torches lit every night? how did the village idiot manage to put on that very complicated looking costume?
or signs:
how come space aliens can travel billions of miles across the galaxy/universe, make a complicated system of waypoints from the sky, but are completely naked and act like dumb animals? why land on a planet that's 4/5ths water if water kills you?
he should just make movies, i bet he'd be a great director without the surprise twist. pretty much the entire movie hinges upon your reaction to the twist, and if that's not believable, the entire movie fails.
