    Interesting point about the hardware, wood, etc.
    As for there being more than seven famalies, I think maybe they got more people to go with them. That photo from the black box was probably early 70s, late sixties?

    At the end, when the young guy goes to the guard shack, I got the feeling that the older guard who was there (Shyamalan cameo) said the things he did because he knew those people were in there. Like it was some kind of social experiment. What he said about dealing with a plan flying over it-why would that be a big deal over a forest preserve?

    Also, their fires, the smoke from the village, wouldn't outsiders see that and wonder where it was coming from? Or were they so far within the forest that you could be totally isolated and hidden?

    I loved the movie, and I like that I left the theater thinking about the things above.
