haha..that's irritating huh?
Waht about this:
put your cursor at the point where you want your selection to start. Then release mouse button and scroll (easily) to point where you want selection to end...then shift+click at the point you want the selection to end...et voila!
(no dragging and scrolling at same time!)
Works on Mac, should try it on PC...i dunno.
