  but to go back to the original question. sometimes i try and look at things as though i've never seen them before and have no idea what kind of purpose they serve.

  and i also read a ton of books. all sorts of books, rarely about design.. books like Ayn Rand's 'The Fountainhead' or 'Atlas Shrugged' and Haruki Murakami's 'The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle' .. these things inspire me to think in different ways, which is so important when so many designers seem to think in the same way.

  did that make sense?
