Yeah it was pretty intense, I think we both felt that it would never get better. It's harder to when you can sympathize with the parents and understand the cultural and religious reasons for their dismay.
But after 6 years her father is now very happy about the whole situation and has embraced me into the family. So it's done a complete a 360 in terms of acceptence.
Eventually I think they realized that their daughters happiness was more important than their own beliefs. So I hope you experience the same transformation :)
