definitely take a few out for a spin before you buy, find one that fits you best.
if you haven't taken the license test yet I'd recommend taking a safety driving class at the DMV, most of them let you use their bikes on the course (which makes it much easier because they're smaller) and you'll get a discount on insurance afterwards.
