the short of it:
Rand almost hit it on the head...there was a guy in high school called david johnson - he was a total nob end sleezeball gimpoid...and we were gonna call our band dave johnson in honor of him...and then someone said 'dave j' sounds better - then someone said 'what about jevad - cos then he won't really know it's about him'...so the band was called jevad...and I then went on to write a zine with the same name and people knew me as nic jevad...and it jsut kinda stuck.
It was only later that I found out it's actually an arabic name, and means, 'peace and courage'.
