Someone will find a way to switch off gravity. By mistake.
But it'll be too late. We'll all drift off into the slowly escaping atmosphere. After a brief realisation of what it's like to be as 'free as a bird' we're turn all bloaty and blow up like lightbulbs in a microwave.
Slugs and snails will then inherit the earth.
