Swollenelbow, the sonic boom creates air pressure, condensing moisture in the air very quickly in the "cone" of the boom. It basically forms a cloud.
Every seen a H-Bomb launched in the pacific islands? That big fat bell you see coming towards those ships is the same concept, a huge force quickly condenses the air. into clouds.
