    usually, i think it's marketers who are more to blame (not trying to pass the buck, just think realistically).
    how many marketers have you known who actually do what's right for the product at hand? In my experience, they usually grab what's been proven to work, make a shitty ass campaign about it, and tell the designers to implement it. in many many big companies (not small studios i guess), designers are treated just like a person who puts up drywall, or a street paver. we implement the projects. the shitty ass marketers think it up.
