I just don't think that the content boxes, if you will, sit well with the buttons. They look extra flat as compared to the boxes. So on the sujbect of depth, what about adding some subtle shades to the background? Say have the outer vertical fields darkest, then a lighter shade in the middle, then leave the content boxes white. It doesn't have to be a dramatic shift, but you could have a sort of implied depth without resorting to good ol' drop shadow.
Oh, and on Firefox 0.9 on Mac OSX 1.3.4 I'm seeing the box just below the menu is shifted to the right by one pixel. Looks a little funny.
