80k is fine for NYC living.
you can basically pick where you want to live minus a few very exclusive neighborhoods. Look to pay 1800-4000 for a 2 bedroom in the hipster areas.
Some will be less, some will be more. I highly suggest finding at least 1 roomate. You get A LOT more for your money if you both willing to throw down for some good rent. As for goin out, it;s all relative man -- some places you'll get a $4 Amstel light and some places it'll be a $9 Amstel Light. It's just the way it goes in this big city. Ebb and Flow ...
