If you wanna do motion graphics, you'll propably should take a look at Aftereffects, but if you wanna learn and do the basics of video editing you'll go with premiere, but you need to learn both i would say, and it's propably better to start with Premiere, because you'll get familliar with the basic video terms and stuff, setting keyframes, working with timelines so on.
