I wonder if the same people that make Nike shoes and clothing understand that in the end, they are really benifiting because Nike is providing HOPE that they can one day join the NBA. I bet that message is a bit clouded on account of them earning slave wages. But I mean, if there were no Nike factories, those people would just starve--I guess Nike really is helping out!
I wonder how the people making Apple computers are getting paid? Not just the actual assembly, but the parts they use.
The fact that both corporations are motivated by turning a profit (that's the definition of why they exist, their product is just the means), I'd assume both engage in unethical labor practices.
Does this mean we should just not buy them? No, as most (if not all) computer and shoe companies probably act accordingly. We don't have much of an option, but let's not try to justify things buy saying that they provide HOPE for .00001% of third-world people.
