Tell us more about what you will use the camera for. Just shooting "anything" and use if for the web, well then a simple compact digital camera will do the trick, and a whole lot cheaper.

If you're going for DSLR's I guess you have a reason. So read up on what kind of lenses you are after, what prices you can expect. Flashes, tripods, bags, dryboxes and whatnot might also be something you would come across. A Canon 10D, or a Nikon D100 might seem somewhat affordable at first, but if you are really serious about shooting some pictures the price will rise. A good lens costs almost as much as one of those cameras.

Of course there's always cheaper lenses, but then again a compact camera would give just about the same result for a much more cheaper buck.

Also, last word of advice is when you have nailed it down to just a few camera models and can't decide looking at all the facts - then go to a shop and grip the camera. It's going to be with you for a long time, so make sure it is something that feels good in your hand.
