This probably doesn't help much... But I could never work for someone again... Perhaps you sohuld think about getting a folio together as a business rather than for presenting to another company to chew you up and spit you out.
Set yourself a target, and try and save some cash so if the first couple of months are a bit dodgy you have something to fall back on (also know as an overdraft in my case :) )
