2 years ago i walked into a mcds and this old guy walked up next to me with a black sheep squadrin cap on. i almost shit. i asked him if he flew and he said yeah. i bought his food and asked him if i could sit and talk for awhile. his stories were amazing and he said he didn't mind talking about them.
after he asked why i was so interested. i told him i saw the tv show when i was a kid and fell in love with flying.
then i thanked him. as i got up he asked why.
i said this. 'i thank you for my freedom. you fought so that i may live free years before i was ever born. and for that i thank you.'
we both choked back the tears and that was that. i still feel good about that day.
the greatest generation of men and women ever.
