1)Rinse face with hot water to open pores. Some exfoliating face soap is good to use as well.
2) Apply shaving gel, (not shaving foam) with a shaving brush, going in a kind of circular motion, and upwards against the hairs.
3) Always shave down and with the direction of the hairs on your neck.
It's fine to go against after you've gotten it pretty smooth. It will make it that much smoother/closer of a shave. Just don't go against the hair starting out.4)After rinsing again with warm water and using some light face soap, run very cold water over your face. This will close your pores back up and soothe any redness.
5)Use a non-alcoholic face lotion or after shave. I'm kind of partial to Eucerin Renewal Alpha Hydroxy Lotion, SPF 15.
It kicks ass in the brutal winter here in Chicago.That's it. And, no, I have not been reading GQ and Details for years and years... :D
