Even if you do get used to it. I think there is still a problem in the contrast between the background and the 'page'. The page on it's own is fine, but with that dark background, you are getting into a simple problem of your iris(es?) not being able to close down as they would with a mainly light window... so you get blasted by the white area...it's biology.
