    I'd say let them feel comfortable with any ideas they come up with, but guide them through - then get to a point soonish where you say 'right - I want you to take his idea and do this with it etc...' then they'll feel more at ease, gain a bit of confidence and if you also treat them with the same respect you'd also like, then you can't go wrong I reckon - I'm in the same sort of position but I'm in 'the junior' position - dunno about being badass, tho...!
