    I will admit that, having been here 3 months now...I understand why in some places it is a neccessity to have a car. Most US cities have appauling public transport infrastrustures, and the nearest grocery shop is sometimes a 15-20 min drive away. Also people living in teh burbs need a car just to get out of the burbs and back - lol.

    In London, for example - even the burbs are serviced by (admittedly an overpriced old and stanky) an efficient public transport service...so the need for a car is diminished...
