    I would never advise anyone to go for a cheap laptop... made that mistake myself..

    Go for a well known brand.. they have the experience in knowing what makes a laptop work best..

    ie. Toshiba, IBM... perhaps Sony

    but NOT taiwanese brands.. A friend of mine had a really dodgy BenQ laptop and I had a Prestigio (another taiwanese brand) and it just stopped working after a few hours of intensive work.. ping.. off it went.. (only 6 months old)
