Yes they are warmer. You're right, I used to play in a band and our bass guitar had a valve amp! man that was lovely.
I just think that technology is what pushes this [music] forward and that vinyl is a dying species (later rather than sooner), yes it sounds good but does diteriorate over time if you scratch, mix, etc...
we move on and the progression is what makes it interesting!!!
