yesterday the first Dutch soldier died by a hostile attack. actually we did far better then the americans in having a peaceful cooperation with the locals, as the Dutch army intentionally chose to wear no helmets when walking the towns and to have a friendly and respectful approach to the people living there. The majority of them did not see the Dutch army as occupants but as a welcome force in keeping the peace and safety.

there are rumours this attack is a revenge to what American soldiers have done to Iraqi prisoners. anyway, there's just this sad tendency of bad behavior launching the whole situation into an air of mistrust and violence.

i never understood the harsh approach of many US soldiers.

Can't they use some more tact?

no wonder the Iraqi's are getting more and more agressive.

the Dutch govt. will review their presence there. I am sure this will get only worse and worse.

I'd say let the Americans fix it themselves if they think they know it all so well.
