1000+ for rent? I pay 700 for a nice 1 BR on the east side (near Pasadena) with off-street parking, laundry, in a low-crime awesome neighborhood, with a landlord who shows up the next day to fix anything wrong. You can work this town to your favor if you try hard enough.
The West Side blows. No parking, too crowded, overpriced and snobby people. Easties rule!
Buy a house in Highland Park while there's still time. There's a few gangbangers around, but it's an up and coming neighborhood with lots of artists and cool new places opening up every month. That's the way to buy in this town, right before the gentrification wave hits.
