    stewart: that's the very thing that disappeared dude.

    thanks wyatt... the high res thing didn't work, but looking at the display stuff prompted me to fool around with the controls...

    the disappearance happened cos i was using dual screens and one of the monitors wasn't connected properly.

    when the dual screen came on it disappeared.

    to remedy, one has to switch the 'primary monitor'.
