Why does hosting have to be in the UK? As long as the server's good and the cutomer support's there 24x7, geographical position of the servers shouldn't make a difference. I'm UK-based, and I used http://www.icdhost.com - it's cheap (not quite 500Mb admittedly), but you get a lot for your money!
