yeah there was this story about a 14 year old kid in Vietnam who's Dad just died from AIDS, his mother is dying from AIDS too, she is unable to work and spends much time in bed due to fatigue, they live in a small hut on the outskirts of an industrial town. They recieve no state benefits and have no medical supplies. The kid and his younger sister do their best to look after their mother, the boy goes to work in a factory 6 miles away, he walks to work with no shoes and frequently works 36 hour shifts. His female friends at the factory are forced to use birth control, the company doesn't want to pay maternity leave or lose staff. There is no immediate future here, there are no prospects for these kids, they are just striving to be alive, to help their families. Maybe things will get better for them, but I dont think so, in a few months their mother will be dead and they will join the massive ranks of orphans in this small town, picking seeds from the cart tracks.
